OUR MINISTRY

Youth:

We actively support a Diocesan summer camp program at Camp Bishopswood, located in Hope, Maine.

Opportunities for involvement in worship services, as an acolyte, choir member, or with the altar guild.

Community Outreach:

Christ Church actively participates in many community-based programs, such as:

  • Jump-Start Program – a court-alternative program for first-time juvenile offenders of non-violent crimes.
  • Contributor to local food pantries.
  • Host for the In A Pinch community program. This program distributes non-food items to the poor in Biddeford.
  • National Church programs, such as the United Thank Offering and the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief.
  • Alliance for Family Healthy; teen-parent support group.

Lay Leadership

Christ Church offers many opportunities for involvement in the service and work of the church. Opportunities include:

  • Vestry
  • Choir
  • Altar Guild
  • Lay Eucharistic Ministers
  • Chalice Bearers
  • Lay Readers
  • Committee Work
    • Worship Committee – works with the rector on defining the worship of the parish.
    • Facilities/Capital Improvements Committee – primarily responsible for the physical facility, completing repairs and making recommendations for work/improvements.
    • Finance Committee – provides financial oversight for the parish. It consists of the rector, senior warden and the treasurers.
    • Outreach Committee – to be redeveloped, responsible for coordinating the outreach efforts of the parish, investigating needs and organizing responses.
    • Adult Formation - plans & conducts classes for members which enhance spiritual growth.
